Important update about SLPs

Dear students,

To avoid any confusion since some students don’t understand clearly what is the SLP for, we decided that no one credit class will be offered this semester. For students who are still missing a credit for graduation, a one-credit class will be offered during intesession and will be online (so no obligation of physical presence on campus to be able to graduate).

• As a reminder, the SLP is handeled at the university level by a committee and there is NO OBLIGATION to take the SLP to graduate as stated in the AUI 2023-2024 catalogue.
• It is mandatory to take the CIP to graduate.
• If a student wants to take an SLP to replace a CIP, it is studied based on case per case by the VPAA as stated in the catalogue.

As a reminder, this does not exempt students from taking the CIP for their graduation. Indeed, the Completion of the Civic Engagement requirement – CIP – is mandatory for all undergraduate students who are required to complete 60 hours of civic engagement fieldwork as a requirement for graduation as stated on page 125 of the catalog. Students will fulfill this requirement through their participation in the Community Involvement Program (CIP).
